Moving inventory checklist

Make the inventory room by room, including the spaces that are easy to miss.

List every space

Work through bedrooms, living areas, kitchen, basement, garage, storage lockers and outdoor areas. Mark items staying behind. Count packed boxes separately from furniture and update the count after packing.

Describe awkward items

Record dimensions for large pieces and whether they separate into parts. Note fragile surfaces, existing damage and assembly needs. Ask whether special items can be accepted; a place on the list is not confirmation.

Connect inventory to access

For large items, note the tightest doorway, stair turn or elevator on the route. Describe the route out of the origin and into the destination. Measurements and photographs can support a later coordinator review; do not send access codes or identity documents.

Keep one current version

Date the inventory and identify changes after your request. Share additions, removals and new stops with the coordinator so everyone reviews the same scope.
